Four years ago, HYROX was a niche event whispered about among fitness fanatics — now it’s one of the fastest-growing races in the world. Athlete and hybrid fitness enthusiast Isla has been part of that journey from the early days, watching it evolve from quiet start lines to sold-out arenas packed with competitors. With the new UK season on the horizon, she’s sharing her insider tips on how to actually secure a race ticket and get yourself ready to hit the sleds, runs, and reps like a pro.
I got into HYROX around four years ago, back when it was still relatively small and not many people had even heard of it. The running tracks were quieter, there wasn’t a mad rush for tickets, and the term hybrid athlete was barely a thing!
I’ve always loved challenging myself and pushing hard in training. I started out competing in obstacle races across the UK, and when other racers started talking about HYROX, I knew I had to give it a go and after my first race, I was completely hooked.

HYROX is the perfect blend of strength and speed, it’s every hybrid racer’s dream (without the mud and freezing water so what’s not to love!). Since then, I’ve qualified for the World Championships three times and I’m aiming to qualify again this year.
With the UK season about to kick off, I can’t wait to see what it has in store!
Thinking about tackling your next HYROX event? With races selling out faster than ever, getting your hands on a ticket takes strategy, timing, and a bit of luck. Here are our top tips to help you secure your spot and get race-day ready.
1. Get in Early with an Affiliate Code
The best way to bag a HYROX ticket is through early release.
If you train at a HYROX affiliated gym or work with an affiliated coach, you can often get a special code that lets you register before tickets go on general sale.
These early-access tickets are limited and go fast, it’s first come, first served, so don’t hang about!
2. General Sale Strategy: All Hands on Deck
When general sale opens, be ready.
Have multiple devices logged in; laptop, phone, tablet, and get your partner, parents, siblings, even your dog online too 🐾
Seriously, it’s common for two people who join the queue at the same time to end up miles apart, so the more devices you’ve got, the better your odds.
3. Be Quick and Persistent
HYROX often releases tickets in multiple waves, so if you miss the first drop, don’t give up.
Keep trying and get in as early as possible, persistence pays off!
4. Know Your Race and Set an Alarm
Decide in advance which event(s) you want to enter and find out exactly when tickets go live.
Set an alarm and be logged on, ready to go the moment the sale opens, it could be the difference between racing or missing out.
5. Volunteer for Priority Access
Volunteering at an event earns you a priority code for a future race. While it’s not a guaranteed spot, volunteers get early access when ticket sales open.
Plus, it’s an amazing way to experience the event atmosphere, cheer on other athletes, and feel part of the HYROX community.
6. Consider the HYROX Flex Add-On
When registering, you’ll have the option to add the HYROX Flex Add-On, and it’s worth considering.
It gives you flexibility and peace of mind if your plans change:
-
Full refund up to 7 days before the event
-
50% refund up to 1 day before the event
Just remember: it can only be added when you first buy your ticket, not later!
💡 Bonus Tip: Look Beyond the UK!
Tickets for international HYROX races are often easier to get, and sometimes, the total cost of flights and hotels abroad can rival what you’d spend travelling within the UK.
Plus, racing in a new city is an epic experience you won’t forget!
💬 Final Thoughts
Whether you’re chasing a new PB or taking on your first HYROX, getting your ticket is the first big win.
Plan ahead, act fast, and you’ll be one step closer to crossing that finish line!
