Push harder when intensity rises with VOOM Sodium Bicarb Charger™ Capsules. Sodium bicarbonate is one of the most researched performance supplements for high-intensity exercise, helping buffer the increase in acidity associated with hard efforts so you can sustain performance for longer.
Ideal for running, cycling, HYROX, rowing, swimming, combat sports and HIIT, our capsules provide 1g of sodium bicarbonate per capsule, making it easy to calculate and personalise your dose. An enteric, time-release capsule and enrobed formula are designed with stomach comfort in mind, helping reduce the bloating and nausea commonly associated with traditional bicarbonate supplementation.
Use our Bicarb Calculator to find your personalised dose based on body weight, training or competition goals, and build your tolerance before race day.

Capsules
A bicarb supplement provides sodium bicarbonate in a measured form so athletes can take a precise dose before hard training or racing. Sodium bicarbonate raises bicarbonate levels in the blood, helping buffer the acidity that builds up during high-intensity efforts. It is one of the most widely researched supplements in sport.
All three deliver the same sodium bicarbonate; the difference is dosing and stomach comfort. Powder is cheap but hard to measure and unpleasant in large amounts. Tablets and capsules give a fixed dose per unit. Time-release capsules, like VOOM’s 1g Bicarb Charger, are designed to pass the stomach before releasing, which can reduce bloating and nausea.
It can be, if your event includes hard efforts of around 1–10 minutes, such as track races, time trials, HYROX or interval-heavy sessions. Typical gains are small, around 1–3%, so get training, fuelling and hydration right first. If you are chasing a PB or a qualifying time, sodium bicarb is one of the better-proven marginal gains.
Both. Never try sodium bicarb for the first time on race day. Test it in hard training sessions, starting at a lower dose, to learn how your stomach responds and how long before your start to take it. Most athletes then save the full competition dose, taken 2–3 hours before, for key races.
