Starting and finishing in the geographical centre of Great Britain, Dunsop Bridge, nestled in The Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this 40KM challenge round packs in over 1,500M of ascent through the remote and rugged Bowland landscape. Covering some of the best trails and hiking routes near Dunsop Bridge, this epic route has a bit of everything.
After heading out North from Dunsop, the second half of the route enjoys a loop of the South Western area of the Bowland Hills taking in Paddy’s Pole and a short out and back leg to summit Parlick. Whether you’re running or walking, the route delivers a rewarding mix of wild moorland, technical climbs, and stunning views, including sections of the iconic Bowland Ultra. The Forest of Bowland is a quiet corner of Lancashire which offers some stunning views on remote trails where you can go several hours without meeting another person – an ideal few hours of solitude for a trail runner or long distance walker.

Dunsop Dash Route
At around 22km and with just over 650m of elevation the Dunsop Dash is a shorter, slightly easier alternative to the Dawdle, but still expect stunning views, some tough ascent and maybe some firmer conditions under-foot, although we wouldn’t bank on it! The route covers stunning paths North of Dunsop Bridge, reaching over 400m whilst skirting around Whins Brow.
